  Activities for Teens

UNITED SYNAGOGUE YOUTH GROUP (USY)

Our United Synagogue Youth Group (USY) is yet another opportunity for our high school members (9th-12th graders) to remain active within the synagogue and Jewish community through social, religious and educational programming. USY offers teens a chance to make Jewish friends from other areas at regional teen conventions and summer Israel programs. A student board, elected each year, plans and implements programming during the course of the year. An advisor provides support for the board and supervises the youth group events.

BETH AM'S MADRIKHIM

Beth Am's Madrikhim Program is designed to develop post-confirmation students (10th-12th graders) into potential lay leaders and religious school teachers. The program provides valuable support to the administrators and teachers in the school and enables teenagers to serve as role models for younger students. The program offers an opportunity for its participants to continue to build their Jewish identities by serving the community. The Hebrew word Madrikhim means leaders. Beth Am's Madrikhim are eligible to act as tutors, teaching assistants, Junior Congregation and Tot Shabbat assistants, as well as office managers. They are supervised by the faculty and meet with the Principal monthly to evaluate their experiences.

Beth Am Connection

Beth Am keeps in touch with our young people of college age, with regular monthly mailings and a directory of their peers. At key holidays, young people receive special packages to bring a touch of "home," wherever they may be.
