Before the Reading

Take your tallit or band, touch the torah where the pointer is, touch it to your lips, and recite:
Wait for the congregation to respond, and then you repeat:

Praise Adonai, who is praiseworthy.
We praise Adonai, who is praiseworthy, forever and ever.

Praised are you, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, who has chosen us from among all people and has given us the Torah. Praised are you, Adonai, who has given us the Torah.

After the Reading

Praised are you, Adonai our God, Soveriegn of the Universe, who has given us the Torah and implanted within us eternal life. Praised are you, Adonai, who has given us the Torah.
