Lecture with Samuel Sokol – How Russian “Denazification” Decimated Ukrainian Jewry

Join Haaretz journalist Sam Sokol for a lecture about how Putin weaponized antisemitism and caused the displacement of tens of thousands of Jews from Ukraine, all in the name of fighting against fascism and racism. During the Q&A, Sam will also address Israel’s constitutional crisis, mass protests, and recent escalating violence — against the backdrop of Israel’s 75th anniversary.

With a background in reporting on Israel and the Jewish Diaspora, Sam Sokol is a reporter for Haaretz, Israel’s paper of record. He was previously a correspondent at the Jerusalem Post and has reported for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the Israel Broadcasting Authority and the Times of Israel. His reporting covers various topics relating to the Jewish experience, including religious, political, military, and social issues. He is the author of Putin’s Hybrid War and the Jews.

On March 1, 2023, Mr. Sokol spoke with Midday at NPR about the Israel unrest around the reform protests and Israeli-Palestinian violence. Check out this segment here.
