BAYITT – 20s & 30s

BAYITT – 20s & 30s

Beth Am’s Young Adult Community

BAYITT is a group of fun, progressive, smart, down-to-earth Jewish singles and couples in their 20’s and 30’s who want to create a friendly, urban Jewish community in Baltimore. We come together for Shabbat dinners, small learning circles,  social justice activities, volunteer opportunities, and for educational programs – and of course to eat, drink, and talk. Events center in Baltimore’s Reservoir Hill neighborhood (home to Beth Am) and throughout the downtown area.

Past events have included movie nights, summertime chill and grill, Torah on Tap (in partnership with Moishe House) bike rides, holiday meals, group dinners, volunteer projects and more.

If you are 21–39, friendly, welcoming, and interested in meeting other Beth Am members or just shul shopping…. this is the group for you — we can’t wait to meet you!

For more information, or if you’d like to get involved with planning programs, contact Asella Medina-Smith at asella@bethambaltimore.org or Rabbi Tyler Dratch at ravtyler@bethambaltimore.org.

In these challenging times, we are as committed as ever to exploring these issues.

Services will be led by Rav Tyler and guest Rabbi Gershom Sizomu (rabbi to the Abayudaya, a Baganda community in eastern Uganda) with dinner and discussions to follow. We invite you to join in community, to pause in the collective, and to honor the Jewish value of reproductive freedom.

Thursday, March 6th | 7 PM | Balt Midrash: Great Jewish Debates Across Baltimore City | Location TBA

We’re back with our third Balt Midrash session! This March, we’ll gather to learn, debate, and question the concept of holiness within Judaism.

Spearheaded by pillar institutions within our city, Balt Midrash gives Jewish young adults (21-40 years old) the opportunity to gather for deep, meaningful learning across Baltimore. You will learn with Rabbi Tyler Dratch – Beth Am Synagogue (Conservative), Rabbi Etan Mintz – B’nai Israel (Orthodox), and Rabbi Andy Gordon – Bolton Street Synagogue (Reform).

Balt Midrash was inspired by the century’s old foundation of Jewish learning, the Beit Midrash, where our community comes together in a boisterous and loving space to learn Torah. Meeting monthly at venues across Baltimore City, rabbis from each organization will facilitate meaningful text study on various topics, such as commandedness, halachah, and holiness. We will learn in chavrutah (pair learning) to allow all participants the chance to meet each other and build strong relationships.

Proudly funded in part by the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Fund for the Enrichment of Jewish Education.
