Youth Programs

Kids just wanna have fun! Beth Am offers youth group activities for those in grades 2 through 7. The programs are designed to encourage youth to socialize, celebrate Jewish rituals, explore Jewish ideas — all through a fun lens and with their peers!

Pre-Kadima (Grades 2-5) meets monthly on Sunday afternoons for a group lunch and community activities.

Kadima (Grades 6-7) meets monthly for activities at Beth Am and other locations throughout the community, depending upon the activity.

Kadima United Synagogue Youth (USY Grades 8-12) USYers lead the way … they work with their advisors to plan programs and activities they want to do. USY events range from having fun and socializing to community building and social justice. There can be a focus on Israel, religious rituals, Jewish peoplehood, and more! USYers will travel on short trips together throughout the year and will lend their leadership to many programs happening at Beth Am for the greater congregation.

Please contact Rabbi Tyler Dratch with any questions or concerns.

Lindsay Feldman - USY Advisor

After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2008, Lindsay Feldman spent several years working as an outdoor instructor and teambuilding facilitator in New Jersey. In 2012, she returned to Baltimore to work for Outward Bound. In her most recent tenure in Baltimore, she completed studies through the Baltimore Board of Rabbis, has served the community as a public-school art and health teacher, and is a member of Beth Am as a proud Jew-By-Choice. She is active in Baltimore’s art and swing dance scenes and BAYITT (Beth Am’s Jewish Home for Young Adults.) This year she started Shalom Social Club to help connect Baltimore Jewish adults in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. She is a board member of her whitewater kayaking club, a gardener, a chicken tender, and is excited to finish backpacking the Appalachian Trail this summer.
